After four years of summer internships in the bay area, I decided it was time to try something else; I sent a cover letter off to Google Sydney, and six weeks later I had a job. I moved to Sydney the following summer and worked as an intern on the Maps API v3. Over those three months, I made a bunch of new friends, got a boyfriend, launched my internship project, and got a full-time job offer. Best summer ever?!
